Renault Car Key Replacements and Lock Repairs

We are able to cut and program ALL replacement Renault keys and remote fobs including KEY CARDS and unlike Renault who take a week to order keys AND THEN require the vehicle taking to them for the programming, we can do the same / next day in most cases and remember WE COME TO YOU!

From 1995 all Renault keys had transponders (or ‘chips’) embedded in the key head, to enhance security (prevent the vehicle being ‘hot wired’). The type of transponder first used by Renault from 1995 to 2001 (with a couple of exceptions) was a philips-fixed code type 33, widely known in the industry as a T5 chip.

Transponder keys were employed because only when the vehicle receives a certain unique code from the transponder inside the key will it be allowed to start.

RENAULT: EXTRA KEYS (1995-2001)

If you already have a key and simply require a spare Renault key? Renault key programming is very straight forward and takes a matter of minutes with our market leading equipment.

RENAULT: LOST ALL KEYS (1995-2001)

If you have lost all keys, look no further – you’re in expert hands. At Aston’s Access we have the software, vast experience and expertise to overcome this situation by using a technique known as eeprom work. The required transponder data along with security codes are extracted from the vehicles ECU or immobiliser and then written to the transponder).

FROM 2002 Renault enhanced vehicle security further by using transponders with rolling codes or ‘crypto chips’. These chips were Philips type 46 (or T14).
Up until this year (2010), this meant that the programming of new keys was only possible by plugging diagnostic equipment into the vehicles OBD (communication) port and using a PIN code to complete the programming, hence making unauthorised duplication even more difficult.

As we constantly invest in technology and have the very latest equipment on the vans, now standard keys (ie. non remote type) can be programmed without needing the PIN code in a matter of minutes (providing a working programmed key is available).

Remote fobs and Renault key cards require the PIN code which we will extract from the vehicle.

RENAULT: LOST AND EXTRA KEYS / CARDS (2002 ONWARDS)
Forget waiting a week ordering keys from the dealers AND THEN the inconvenience of getting the car to them for the programming, in most cases we can do this the SAME DAY.

REMOTE KEY FOBS: If you’re after a remote central locking fob (even if you don’t have one at present) then we can provide this for you (providing the vehicle came with one originally). Generally from 1998 onwards most Renault vehicles came equipped with remote fobs.

KEYS LOCKED INSIDE? Amongst other ways of this happening, many cars will self-lock if left unlocked (often after just a minute!) as a security measure. Using non-destructive techniques we can get into your vehicle and get you up and running again, even outside office hours! Call us immediately.

BROKEN KEYS / KEY BROKE IN LOCK? Key extraction service available. Don’t stress, help is only a phone call away. Keys when keys are badly broken / worn down, solutions are at hand.

STOLEN KEYS: Had a key, or your only key stolen? If one’s gone missing or you’re unsure if someone else may have a copy then we can get this key deactivated from the vehicles memory , ensuring YOUR CAR STAYS IN YOUR HANDS! Lock changes or even re-coding existing locks where possible are also services we provide on site.

FAQ's

My Renault key card won’t give me access, what can I do?

Firstly, pull the emergency key blade out of the key card, in most cases this is where the battery is located. Either change the battery, or go to the passenger door and remove the cap on the right hand side of the handle. There is a hole on the underside of the cap, simply prize off with a flat head screwdriver and you will see the door lock. Inserting the card and turning the ignition on will then allow you to open all the doors.

Why does my Renault key card give me a “Card Not Detected” message?

Because it is damaged and needs replacing. We strongly advise against putting a knife down the side of the card as the card readers can break easily, giving you 2 problems to solve, instead of one. We guarantee we can sort this problem out, or you don’t pay, simple. Get in touch for a great price today.

The Renault dealership is saying it takes 5 working days to order a new key (or key card) from France, can you help ?

Yes, we can help today. We stock all replacement Renault car keys for the full range of Renault cars and vans. Plus, by having the very latest Renault key programming software around means we can do the very latest models also. Don’t hesitate to get in touch for an instant straight forward quote.

My Renault Traffic (or Renault Master) vans ignition is sticking (or jammed solid), why?

A very common problem even on fairly new vans. In most cases, this will need to be replaced, though occasionally they are repairable. Call for free advice, we have these in stock, getting you back on the road with minimal delay.
